5 Reasons Why Living In The West Is Best

5 Reasons Why Living in The West Is Best

Have you been on the hunt for your first home? Saving desperately to have your deposit ready for when "the one" pops up on your endless internet searching? Location has a lot to do with the decision making process. After all, lifestyle is important. Weekends are important. Good Coffee is important too.

Adelaide remains an excellent market for First Home Buyers to find new opportunity. While many may be priced out of the Eastern suburbs, Adelaide Hills or Coastal strips, new suburban developments are providing excellent opportunities. In particular, Adelaide’s West should be a focus as the inner suburbs extending all the way to Port Adelaide undergo gentrification that will sees the lifestyle offered in those areas grow to perfectly suit young families and professionals.

1. Getting In Now Is A Good Idea

With the First Home Owners Grant, low interest rates and deposits as low as 5% on some new developments, there are plenty of incentives being provided to help buyers enter into the market. Additionally, while some suburbs are already benefiting from gentrification, affordable pockets within nestled within 15 minutes drive of both the CBD and Adelaide’s beaches are still there to be found.

2. What's Already There Is Pretty Great

The Western suburbs are changing. Since 2010, South Australia has invested heavily in infrastructure which has transformed the area. Familiar projects include the Tramline extension to the Entertainment Centre, investment in the development and genrification of Bowden and Port Adelaide and the New Royal Adelaide Hospital on the Western Fringes of the city. Council's have also been active with upgrades to Henley Beach Square, the Torrens to Torrens bike trail and rezoning of land to accomodate medium and high density residential development all helping contribute to the change in lifestyle.

But the biggest changes have come from private investment, both large and small scale. Redevelopments such as those at the Brickworks Markets and Churchill Road Shopping Hub, have brought outstanding shopping experiences to compliment the existing West Lakes Mall and Mile End Homemaker Centre. But the real change has been found in neighbourhoods where younger residents and business owners are already flocking to re-imagine and reinvigorate the community. Queen Street in Croydon is a perfect example, full of local cafes and boutique stores to enjoy and afternoon amongst. Eateries such as Karma and Crow in Richmond, Modinetti along Henley Beach Road and the incredible Low & Slow American BBQ house in Port Adelaide are just an example of how entrepeneurs are readily changing the face of these locations.

3. There's So Much More To Come

This is just the beginning of further developments already scheduled for the Western Suburbs. Recent CoreLogic reporting revealed 37 suburbs within the West Torrens and Charles Sturt councils recorded value growth beyond the 11.8% average between 2011 and 2016. This trend looks set to continue with a host of projects to soon be completed.

Arndale Shopping Centre is set to undergo a long-awaited redevelopment to transform it into one of the most modern shopping centres in Australia. Meanwhile, the Cheltnam Park Racecourse is also scheduled for a massive redevelopment which will include new residential and business, as well as beautifully curated outdoor spaces. Further investment in public transport, recreational trails and public school facilities have also been scheduled, ensuring that not only will Adelaide's West be a great place to live, access to education and leisure will be the best in Adelaide.

Finally, and perhaps most notably, Adelaide's West is set to be one of the first areas to benefit from the massive South Road Redevelopment. This will mean that the fastest access route to Australia's premier wine regions, the Barossa and McLaren Vale, as well as our outback and beautiful rural coatlines will literally be only a couple of turns away.

4. The West Is Adelaide's Premiere Sports & Entertainment Destination

Adelaide’s West has long been a hotbed for entertainment in South Australia. Live music and sport form the cornerstone of what is a dynamic and diverse area.

Music lovers will already be familiar with the iconic haunts of the Adelaide Entertainment Centre, Thebarton Theatre and the much loved Governor Hindmarsh Hotel. Meanwhile, sports lovers have Hindmarsh Stadium (home of Adelaide United), Titanium Security Arena (Home of the 36ers), Priceline Stadium (home of Adelaide Thunderbirds) and the Adelaide Velodrome all within 15 minutes drive.
